Did you have your career path chosen before or after you started?

I'm 2 weeks into my first semester, so I feel like I have time to figure out what I wanna do, but I don't wanna panic last minute and choose something stupid that I can't do anything with. I don't know if it is to early or not to trip out about this but I have been.

How did you guys decide what you wanted to do with yourselves?

I Don't Care

I decided well in advance. My career path -is- why I'm going to school. For those that don't know, my major is digital graphic design.

shit i hear you
i'm in the same boat

i'm 3 semesters in and i took this one off to figure out what the hell i wanna do
i don't like being in school not knowing what i'm doing

my major was history but it seems pretty useless to me since I don't want to be a teacher (shitty pay.. might as well just become a court reporter in half the time if i stick with my current major)

I was thinking about computer science but i'm unsure

what are some useful majors that are expanding in the job market?

I've toyed with the idea of being a teacher, but I don't think I could handle it to be honest.

Low pay, heavy hours, dealing with ass hole kids all day. Doesn't seem like my kind of thing. My English teacher was saying that most teachers end up becoming that because they don't know what else to do.

I'm hoping I don't fall into that category.

Riot, what career path are you going for? Your doing it independently out of school right?

I envy people who know what they want to do with their life. My opinions and interests change to much for me to ever know exactly what I want.

That's exactly what made me second guess it.

I'm a writer, primarily.
Fairly independently but I do go to school just in smaller chunks. Certificate programs, one for screenwriting, technical writing etc. As well as attending a series or workshops throughout the year and summer writing courses...
Typically this consists of me sitting in a room with people in their 50's + with their degrees in history or english, and professors working to better their writing for papers and shit. Typically pretty dull.

My opinions and interests have changed but i've just adapted them into my work.

Never had an idea what I wanted to do as a job. I'm very interersted in Psychology though, althought I don't want to become a therapist after I graduate.

I just went on to study psychology just to do something. Of course school is never perfect and it's easy to stop what you're studying because it doesn't suit you 100% and do nothing instead when you're young. It's basically a choice between doing something that might get me somewhere although I don't know if I'll use it, atleast I'm doing something valuable with my time OR doing nothing.
I wonder what Zvornik has to say about this issue.

15 grand isn't really that bad.
schools for that type of thing aren't cheap. I'm in Canada and shit's expensive like the Ontario Institute Of Audio Recording Technology (OIART) is $29 000 (CAN) just for tuition alone.

All specialized programs tend to be fairly expensive.
